Getting children excited to learn is not an easy job and empowering them is even more challenging. But with the right approach, I believe that we all can do it together.
Reading is one of the most important ways to get children willing to learn new things and broaden their horizons. Especially, when they do it at their leisure. That was my idea behind the “Jelajah Budaya” (exploring culture) column at “Bravo!” children’s magazine. In every article, children can learn through exploring culture and history. For younger children, learning by doing is the easiest way to make them understand how their world works. That was why I agreed to join the world of “Didgit Cobbleheart” as Mrs. K. |
Another important thing in a child’s development is the parent. We all know that poor parenting could affect children and influence their future negatively. Adding it to living in a multi-culture world and today lifestyle, the search for the best way to raise children can be endless.
Since I became a mother, I learned as much as possible from paediatricians, teachers, and other pedagogic experts. Used what suited to every child's problems and character, adapted theories to real conditions. Knew that there is no “one-size-fits-all” answer; I took my courage to write my experiences into parenting books. I also wrote parenting articles for the blog "TheUrbanMama". In the hope of helping other parents who might have the same wishes and / or problems with their children. |
